Responsibilities:
- Serves as the technical point of contact for computer system architecture and system software organization to assist in the software development and cyber-security matters relating to in-service improvements, analysis, design, development, and implementation of system-wide software/firmware/hardware modifications
- Analyzes and evaluates cyber security of assigned NAS systems/equipment and facilities.
- Recommends solutions to improve/enhance cyber security by using a knowledge of techniques, procedures, and processes such as operating system theory, data structures, software engineering, and computer communications while ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data
- Presents overall results of the work activity to the group in intra- and inter-service and agency meetings relating to the technical aspects of cybersecurity pertaining to in-service improvement, new system design, development and testing, and technical documentation associated with NAS surface surveillance systems
- Research, design, development, test, evaluation, and maintenance of software, operating system, and network computer hardware systems in an integrated manner.
- Ensures cybersecurity requirements are maintained during all maintenance, monitoring activities, installations or upgrades, and throughout day to day operations.
- Ensures adherence to DOT Order 1351.37, Departmental Cybersecurity Policy.
- Adheres to configuration management (CM) requirements, and performs changes as required.
Requirements
- Cisco networking certifications or other networking certification is highly desired.
- Knowledge and understanding of the importance of testing during all phases of the software development process.
- Knowledge of computer operating systems, software and hardware with proven ability to debug complex systems and to conduct reviews, audits and testing.
- Knowledge of networking concepts
- Experience in configuring security for Linux and Windows operating systems
- Experience in applying operating system security updates and patches
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentation.
- Ability to pass an FAA background investigation (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required)
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology is required. A bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science may be substituted depending on qualifications and experience.
