Job Description
The Industrial Mechanic will be responsible for assembling mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components during the build phase of large scale, complex machinery by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications. The work of an Industrial Mechanic can often be physically demanding. In order to install and repair equipment, the Industrial Mechanic may need to crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods of time.
This position also requires the ability to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as schematics, diagrams, or instructions. He/she must also be motivated to work on their own and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are a necessary part of this position.
Responsibilities:
· Inspect incoming components per the drawings
· Assemble and install hydraulic, pneumatic, and various mechanical components
· Read blueprints and operate electronic diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot repairs and identify potential solutions in mechanical systems
· Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
· Assembles machines and sub-assemblies using hoists, cranes, and hand / power tools
· Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
· Maintains equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies
· Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
· Complete machine start-ups and factory acceptance tests
Education Requirements:
· Journeyman experience or the completion of an apprenticeship program or two to three years of hands-on experience preferred
· Experience working with various types of mechanical devices preferred
· Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents
· Knowledge of mechanical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment
· Awareness of national, state, and local safety codes and regulations
· Experience in schematic and blueprint reading along with troubleshooting skills
· Familiarity with parts and components of complex machinery and motors, as well as the tools used to repair them
· Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting
· Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems a plus
· Strong mechanical aptitude
