Job Title: Field Mechanic Heavy Equipment - Off-RoadHeavy Diesel Mechanic- Heavy Equipment
Hourly Pay: $35-$45 an hour based on experience
Reports to: Equipment Manager
Position Summary:
The Field Mechanic Off-Road Heavy Equipment position is responsible for the proper operations of our equipment. At our sites, different types of machines and equipment are utilized in our day to day production. The Field MechanicOff-Road Heavy Equipment is integral in keeping operations moving by knowing how to manage, diagnosis, and repair oof-road heavy equipment such as larger Haul Trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators, skid steers, and forklifts made by Caterpillar, Hitachi, and Komatsu . This is a great position for someone who would like to work on different types of equipment and is based in the Lake Norman area.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience working on off-road heavy equipment such as Caterpillar, Hitachi, and Komatsu equipment
- Relevant experience includes being able to perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to install and/or replace new or reconditioned repair parts
- Ability to test equipment for proper operation
- Understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits, drawings, and prints
- Working knowledge of equipment operation and associated operating systems
- Familiarization of computers to diagnose codes and troubleshoot equipment problems more efficiently
- Working knowledge of the CAT ET and SIS computer systems
- Extensive selection of personal tools to be used on the job. Out of the ordinary tools will be provided.
- Course work from accredited trade school, college, or university with emphasis in mechanics, hydraulics, and automotive electronics
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and directs mechanic diagnostics and repairs for four quarry sites
- Conducts daily workplace safety and maintenance inspections of all critical components and systems
- Ability to train co-workers as needed to better assist in the maintenance areas of the equipment

Essential Functions, Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Pre-employment physical exam and drug screening
- Able to work outdoors in most weather conditions
- Able to work in a physically rigorous work environment. Position may involve walking, standing, sitting, bending, and climbing stairs.
