ASR Group is the world’s largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar, with an annual production capacity of more than 6 million tons of sugar. Pay range: $25 - $32

OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for all maintenance activities within the plant. Working under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Technician schedules, and performs maintenance, in addition to oversight of the maintenance work of the Production Leads.  Furthermore, the Maintenance Technician performs highly skilled work in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair work. The Maintenance Technician ensures efficient production and compliance with all quality, safety, and other policies of American Sugar Refining.  In addition, the Maintenance Technician serves as a member of the Food Safety Team.

 

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs routine facility maintenance as assigned, including both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  • Performs PM tasks as assigned
  • Observes and troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation by adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments, as well as repairing/replacing defective parts. 
  • Replaces equipment components (i.e. motors, sensors, starters)
  • Responsible for aiding in startup process to ensure equipment is operating correctly.
  • Contains a strong electrical aptitude with the ability to assist in resolving issues and fostering Continuous Improvement.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner (both electrical and mechanical)
  • Ensure production in accordance with planned schedule and production specifications.
  • Ensure and verify the performance and recording of all quality and food safety (including HACCP and EPA) checks, inspections, or tests.
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed.
  • Maintain the Preventative Maintenance and Work Order system.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, quality, safety, and food safety policies and procedures to perform job duties and be able to train them to others.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • 3-5 years industrial electrician/maintenance technician experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with experience in manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to program/install/troubleshoot VFD drive
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and troubleshoot PLC’s
  • Demonstrated experience reading schematic diagrams

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Journeyman card preferred

  • Ability to work cross functionally to achieve outstanding results.
  • Highly organized, self-starter that can work with little direct supervision.
  • Ability to work a flex schedule as needed
  • Able to regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
