General Description:
The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Vice President and General Manager and manages the maintenance staff to support production and warehousing operations including existing facilities, equipment, and implementation of new machinery to help drive continuous improvement in product quality and process efficiency.
The Maintenance Manager will manage/perform preventative maintenance, planned maintenance and breakdown maintenance repairs of assigned equipment to ensure safe operational status of equipment and facilities. This position is a working position, including being on call for full support of maintenance staff.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure company safety policies are followed.
- Direct the operations of the maintenance staff to achieve set objectives.
- Monitor and document employee performance to recommend promotions, wage increases, corrective actions, and terminations.
- Develop and monitor facilities and maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
- Coordinate with management on the development and management of a maintenance budget and key TTIs (equipment downtime, maintenance backlog, time to repair, budget/cost)
- Maintain a cost-effective parts replacement program.
- Purchase parts and supplies through approved vendors for repairs and to maintain inventory of often used items.
- Negotiate, follow up and enforce maintenance contracts with outside vendors.
- Ensure proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with plant management and security system vendors.
- Ensure the facilities meet government regulations, health and security standards and energy efficiency requirements.
- Remain on call for full support of emergency and non-emergency maintenance requirements.
- Conduct regular inspection of buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals.
- Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and install a range of equipment from low voltage DC to 480v three phase.
- Conduct welding operations for repairs and some fabrication projects.
- Rebuild electrical and pneumatic hand tools as needed.
- Maintain storage for recycling of used oils and hazmat materials.
- Create and maintain reporting on maintenance, repairs, safety, and other occurrences for supervisors and relevant staff.
- Track maintenance costs and partner with operations management on cost reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with management on budgeting for facilities and maintenance needs.
- Assist with business relocation efforts as designated.
- Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising and disciplining employees.
- Good attendance required.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as Maintenance Manager - 3 years
- Experience in planning maintenance operations
- Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems etc.
- Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
- Ability to keep track of and report on activity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent; Degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in business administration or facility management will be an advantage
- Able to perform physical duties of typical facilities and maintenance duties to include lifting, kneeling, performing work at heights, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $66,560.00 - $83,200.00 per year
