Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s OneTech organization is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Industrial Internet of Things Engineer within the Flexible Automation Team, R&D Solutions, Manufacturing, and Enterprise Digital Office.
The primary responsibility of this role is to assist in the standardization, governance, design, deployment, and sustainment of an Operating Technology (OT) network providing a stable environment for our manufacturing equipment and sensors.
Reporting to the Flexible Automation Manager, the person in this role will support the Toyota Manufacturing Facilities and Production Engineering team's objective to deploy and sustain connectivity to each manufacturing asset through the equipment lifecycle while collecting data to provide analytic and real-time insights to the manufacturing and PE team members.
What you’ll be doing
- Design, code, and test: Design, code, and test sensors and features of IoT devices.
- Research and create: Research, create, test, and document IoT solutions.
- Process data: Determine how to process information provided by devices within the network. This includes solving data collection challenges and creating dashboards to visualize data.
- Provide solutions: Provide solutions to issues related to the connection of networks and platforms.
- Manage device connectivity: Manage device connectivity, sensors, and software updates.
- Ensure flow: Ensure the flow of control signals and other information down to the line equipment and operator interfaces.
- Assist with creating standards for edge devices, equipment data hierarchies, data routing, and message flows to standardize equipment, data models, and collection methods.
What you bring
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline
- Self-motivation and ability to effectively lead & manage teams with multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong, proven communication skills with the ability to deliver complex information concisely across cultures and organizational boundaries with multiple levels.
- 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Information Systems with a focus on manufacturing support.
- 5+ years working in production support with maintenance or equipment controls experience.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Added bonus if you have
- 8+ years working in production support with maintenance or equipment controls experience.
- Allen Bradley / Mitsubishi / Omron / Kawasaki / Fanuc / Toyopuc / Seimens / or similar industrial system.
- 8+ years of industrial networking, wireless technology, and communication protocols experience.
- Experience in protocols like…. Ethernet IP, Profinet, FLNET, EtherCat, Mod-Bus, or similar protocols
- IOT and Data Platform Software for data aggregation, acquisition, and visualization experience.
- AZure IOT, Green Grass, Ignition, FactoryTalk Suite, Wonderware, ActivPlant, GE Cimplicity or similar application
- Cyber IIOT Exposure
- CI/CD exposure.
- Jenkins, Azure IoT, Git, or similar systems
- Platform and application containerization exposure.
- Exposure to Agile Project Management concepts.
