Overview
Gallagher Bassett Technical Services is seeking a qualified environmental, health, and safety (EHS) professional to become a valued member of our Industrial Hygiene/Safety & Health team. The ideal candidate for this position must be a proactively motivated individual with the ability to manage projects and deliver quality consulting services with minor supervision.
Responsibilities
- Position reports to the Manager - Industrial Hygiene Services located in the Chicago metro area.
- Anticipated 50+% travel nationwide for on-site (overnight travel) service to clients with balance as remote worker performing report preparation, planning, and coordination for other projects.
- Complete industrial hygiene/occupational safety investigations, indoor air quality and other exposure monitoring in a variety of industrial and commercial business sectors. Understand and apply industrial hygiene, indoor air quality, and environmental building investigation techniques.
- Familiarity with occupational and environmental regulations and guidelines and workplace hazard controls; and ability to provide recommendations to reduce potential workplace hazards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science degree in life sciences or engineering required, and up to 3 years experience.
- At a minimum, must have previous experience in air sampling and project management work.
- Must have valid driver's license and dependable automobile transportation.
- Must have or be willing to obtain and maintain an IDPH license as an Air Sampling Professional and Project Manager. Complete NIOSH 582 course and 2 hour asbestos awareness course.
- Ability to use microscope.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Must be able to pass a physical, and be able to wear a respirator.
Preferred:
- Previous professional EHS consulting experience
- Familiarity with sample collection equipment including personal sampling pumps, noise dosimeters, direct reading instrumentation
- On path to meet qualifications as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Bi-lingual or multi-lingual communication skills
- Located in the Chicago metro area

- Ability to work independently to deliver on a timely basis with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills to participate in multiple projects at a time, prioritize assignments and prepare comprehensive reports
- Strong analytical skills to interpret collected data and apply appropriate occupational standards and offer recommendations for improvement. Competent in college level mathematics.
- Strong understanding of regulatory, professional, and industry standards and practices.
- Good customer service focus.
- Computer competency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
