Job Description

Our East Syracuse laboratory is hiring!  We are looking to fill full-time and part-time Lab Technician positions, available from May through August 2023.  These positions are going for $15.00/hour plus overtime (for full-time).  

Job Functions:

  • Performs Support Tasks for the laboratory groups, which may include but are not limited to:
    • Checking equipment into our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMs)
    • Shipping sampling kits to clients
    • Inspecting and cleaning sampling equipment, for next use (tubing, canisters, pumps etc.)
    • Changing gas cylinders
    • Executing proper sample custody procedures (signing out, labelling, or debulking samples)
    • Housekeeping (washing labware, keeping supplies stocked, etc.)
    • Perform support equipment checks (volume accuracy, weight verification, temperature verifications, etc.)
    • Inventory checks
    • Preparing standards for use in approved laboratory methods
    • Printing and assembling sampling instructions for clients
    • Scanning documentation to meet record retention requirements
    • Assists with sample preparation, using approved laboratory methods
    • Assists with media preparation
    • Other duties as required
  • Attends data integrity training and signs off acknowledging understanding and responsibility therein
  • Responsible for the timely response to all e-mail, voicemail, verbal and written requests
  • Operates within the guiding principles of the company
  • Follows all guidelines for acceptable quality control, investigates quality control failures and rectifies problems and brings any discrepancies to their supervisor's attention
  • Understands and always adheres to all aspects of the safety program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Part-time or Full-time college attendance (Strongly Preferred)
  • Collaborative and works well on a team team (Required)
  • Strong time management, organizational, communication skills (Required)
  • Strong attention to detail (Required)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and production-oriented (Required)
  • Basic computer skills (Required)
  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for up to 4 hours at a time. (Required)
  • Ability to use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation to effectively handle delicate samples, equipment and/or small tools. Ability to perform repetitive movements. (Required)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. (Required)
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach in all directions. (Required)
