Job Description
The Industrial Fire Protection Designerdesigns Fire Protection Systems per applicable codes, standards, and Customer specifications using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. Work includes generating submittal and construction drawings, detail drawings, Fire Protection system calculations, system operating sequences, and stock/material/equipment lists as necessary for review by Authorities Having Jurisdiction and to support fabrication, construction, and installation of the systems. Work also includes performing other design and consultation duties as needed.
Essential Duties:
- Create detailed drawings with limited input from customers or fields.
- Perform calculations as required by codes and/or manufacturer instructions.
- Select components to meet customer needs, specifications, and applications.
- Work closely with the Total Safety engineering staff, Construction Manager, Project Managers, Sales, and other discipline engineers and designers.
- Create and maintain Fire Protection CAD/modeling standards.
- Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers.
- Assists others as needed.
Skills and Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of AutoSPRINK and AutoCAD experience.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain licenses and certifications necessary to perform assigned responsibilities.
- Must be able to travel.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card and pass any required safety testing, including classes such as Basic Plus, etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and other database software.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD. Proficiency with other design software, such as HydraCAD and/or 3D modelling programs is desired.

- Must possess high ethical standards demonstrated by their approach to business.
- Must demonstrate leadership and the ability to coordinate resources to achieve maximum profitability, efficiency, and utilization.
- Must be able to prepare accurate, effective, complete, and easily understood written communications and reports.
Educational Requirements:
- NICET certification in water-based systems layout is preferred and an expectation is to pursue further professional development by obtaining State licensing.
