JOB MISSION
New Balance’s Manufacturing Engineer will create, build, and execute Domestic Manufacturing Engineering Improvement strategies that will drive New Balance to be a Top 3 Global Athletic Brand. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will plan, design and direct manufacturing processes to maximize efficiencies, eliminate waste and improve quality.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Actively manages and supports all manufacturing engineering functions within the location they support.
- Identifies and creates new engineering opportunities that will bring operational advantages towards providing long term competitive advantages.
- Increase manufacturing efficiencies by recommending and implementing process enhancements relating to waste elimination by improving equipment design, layout, process flow, quality, and safety.
- Manages all aspects of new or revised product development including involvement in the design review process, evaluating manufacturability of the product, creating factory prototypes, and overseeing product trials.
- Manages the Engineering and NB Lean functions of the facility including leading and development of staff and processes.
- Partners with internal departments to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and lead change initiatives and role model the NB Leadership Competencies consistently.
- Strategic project planning, analytical and technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; highly PC literate with a focus on MS Office; CAD; Project Management and Control Charts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with modern manufacturing techniques and equipment with a focus on Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Lead efforts in the analysis and evaluation of production process from the position of work simplification, value analysis, workstation and method analysis to promote an efficient and quality focused manufacturing operation.
- Lead in the development of sequence of operations, standardized work, job instructions and lay-outs for new and existing styles. Recommends production methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new styles and processes.
- Develop and maintain labor standards, standardized work and job instructions for all operations.
- Evaluate process and technology for manufacturing capabilities and process flow.
- Identifies and creates new engineering opportunities that will bring operational advantages.
- Increase efficiencies by recommending and implementing process enhancements.
