Industrial Engineer I
Summary:
Reporting to the Industrial Engineering Manager, the Industrial Engineer I maintains and improves systematic processes and builds efficient systems that eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy, and other resources that do not generate value in production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Implement methods for improving work cell efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities. This could include restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and recommending workstations or equipment to purchase.
- Responsible for part setup, Bill of Materials, and routing information in ERP.
- Participate in and foster ideas for Lean initiatives and Kaizen events.
- Perform process capability studies and compile the data to measure variances to standards.
- Conduct capacity evaluations and determine path to meet targets.
- Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) studies to identify out-of-control variances.
- Maintain up to date calibration of gages.
- Contribute content to Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and keep them updated.
- Conduct product cost comparison studies to determine efficient utilization of manufacturing personnel and equipment.
- Process all necessary information and maintain records of studies and recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain and improve plant layouts.
- Analyze inventory space and usage to ensure it is right-sized for business needs.
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to implement change.
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in a technical discipline required, with equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline preferred.
- One to three years prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software; knowledge of IFS preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Exceptional verbal communication skills required.
- Excellent writing skills to publish reports, work instructions, and company procedures.
