Job Title: Industrial Engineer (Contract)

Duration: 6 month assignment, could go longer, could go direct

Compensation: $85-100k ($40-50/hr)

Industry: automotive manufacturing

Location: Duncan, SC

SUMMARY

Responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving manufacturing and manual assembly

processes for components and assemblies. Position is responsible for the coordination of production lines in anticipation of new product launches as well as performing root cause analysis, problem solving, time studies, analyzing takt time, writing and editing work instructions, etc. Ultimately this role is responsible for building manufacturing processes that meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost and delivery requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Perform engineering tasks and handle designated projects to directly support manufacturing operations.

·       Coordinate activities with outside vendors and be willing to travel as necessary to meet

with vendors and customers.

·       Participate on cross functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of productivity, methods, processes, and quality.

·       Identify, analyze and mitigate risk in the manufacturing process by setting controls that prevent and detect failures (i.e. PFMEA, 8D, 5Y)

·       Create and conceptualize manufacturing processes with optimal line side implementation, material flow, and effective work instructions so as to foster quick setup and reduce as much trial/error as possible.

·       Establish manufacturing operations, work sequence, and process parameters. (Job Element Sheets)

·       Establish and assist preventive maintenance measures that lead to consistent part quality.

·       Assist the shop floor in the training and education on new lines and processes.

·       Work with leadership to establish accurate staffing needs and identify the right project personnel resources.

·       Advances the standardization of manufacturing operations, including setup books, written instructions, engineering documentation, design output and manufacturing instructions.

·       Coordinate, delegate and perform audits that test system effectiveness for Part Quality and Productivity.

·       Be responsible for system breakdown and failure when controls do not exist or have not been identified.

·       Seek support and help when risk cannot be managed by the engineering unit.

·       Identify critical operations and establishes process controls that prevent and eliminate errors in the workplace.

·       Stay up to date with the technology of manufacturing operations (i.e. including other shop auxiliary operations) to enhance safety, quality and productivity.

·       Leads kaizen activities for process improvement or system changes, as required by the annual strategic plan.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

·       Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing / Engineering / Engineering Technology or Equivalent (preferred)

·       5+ years in a similar Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering role in the automotive manufacturing industry or similar

·       Must be able to read blueprints (GD&T), interpret customer drawings, and evaluate specifications

·       Must be able to work in teams and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·       Must be well organized, skilled in documenting results and procedures
