Job description

Independent Contractor - Field Adjuster
Description of Services:
Syndicate Claim Services, LLC, a Charles Taylor Company, may ask the Independent Contractor Adjuster (IC) to render services on behalf of Syndicate and its Clients in the areas of adjusting residential and commercial property and casualty daily claims. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting scene of loss investigations, photographing, scoping, estimating, preparing, and developing documentation and submitting electronic reports with appropriate recommendations. The IC will work with the Field Manager and adhere to Syndicate requirements and generally accepted claim handling standards. Individuals without prior claim estimating experience will not be considered.
Syndicate Requirements and Standards:
  • First contact within 24 hours of claim assignment.
  • Inspection completed within 72 hours of first contact.
  • Return/Upload of file within 48 hours of completing inspection.
  • Explanation provided in claim management systems (FileTrac & XactAnalysis, if applicable) if time standards are not met.
  • All file activity addressing contact, coverage, investigation, evaluation, subrogation, salvage, and resolution must be documented in the file of the appropriate claim system.
  • Adherence to loss notice requirements, directions, client guidelines, local/state requirements, and special requests from Client.
  • Consistently demonstrate excellence in adherence to high quality standards and client requirements.
  • Responds to ALL communication from Syndicate Staff or Syndicate Clients within 8 business hours.
Required Skills:
Note that these requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to provide services to Syndicate.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years minimum previous field property adjusting experience with all loss types – residential and commercial.
  • Minimum claims handling experience of 250 residential and commercial claims up to $100,000.
  • Proficient in Xactimate and XactAnalysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of Dwelling Fire, HO3, HO4, HO6 policy.
  • Thorough knowledge of COP/CPP/BOP policies and commercial claim handling.
  • Thorough knowledge of building materials and construction principles.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.

  • Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer).
  • Business writing skills. You must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with Syndicate management, clients, insureds, contractors, and various other parties involved in the insurance claim process.
  • An Independent Spirit, highly efficient in time management.
    • You must be results-oriented and looking to work with a production-based company.
  • Valid Driver's License, a good driving record and a clean and presentable vehicle for business use. We recommend vehicles with high mpg ratings.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be a licensed as required by state and local laws.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Symbility Claims platform.
  • Experience with FileTrac Claims Management system.
  • Certifications: Haag, IICRC, Xactimate Certifications - Level I, II, III.
  • Education – College Degree.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an IC to successfully provide services to Syndicate and our Clients.
  • Ability to talk and hear.
  • Ability to see and read.
  • Reaching and manual dexterity for operating computer keyboard.
  • While performing the duties of this position, auto travel will be required.
  • The IC is required to extend hands and arms in various directions to handle files and associated paperwork; use hands/fingers in repetitive motion in keyboard usage; use hands/fingers to efficiently utilize a writing instrument.
  • Stooping kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, relative to investigating claims.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word is required, as well as the ability to convey detailed/important instructions in an accurate manner.
  • Ability to frequently talk or hear on a telephone and receive detailed information through oral communication is required.
  • Exertion up to 50 pounds of force is occasionally required and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Visual activity requirements are those of Clerical Administrative. This is a minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, computer terminal, extensive reading, operation of machines, and using measurement devices.
  • Ability to ascend or descend stairwells.
  • Ability to climb up to and on rooftops.
  • Ability to climb ladders to inspect roofing/structural damage, and in some cases the ability to enter enclosed or confined spaces.
  • Ability to maintain balance when walking on narrow, slippery, or sloping surfaces.
  • Ability to work outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions.
Work Environment:
While providing services to Syndicate and our Clients, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the IC will encounter.
  • On-site Inspections.

  • Confined spaces.
  • Catastrophic events.
  • Time split between office and field work.
  • High levels of social contact and interaction with internal and external customers and vendors.
