In-Stock Senior Analyst

Whole Foods Market is hiring its next Senior In-Stock Analyst within the Culinary In-Stock Team. This role is primarily responsible for building reporting and visualization tools that will be used to administer Whole Foods Market’s global inventory management program. The ideal candidate will be able to translate abstract requirements into effective, audience-relevant reporting solutions using Tableau, Excel, and Alteryx. This position will report to the In-Stock leadership group but will work closely with an Enterprise Analytics peer group to design solutions that are scalable and compatible with the company’s data architecture strategy. The In-Stock Senior Reporting Analyst will also serve as the team’s primary point of contact for coordinating database information needs and issue troubleshooting.

This role requires being located in Austin, TX at our Store Support Headquarters located in downtown Austin, TX. You must be able to work a minimum of 3 days per week in office. Relocation assistance is available to qualified applicants.

Responsibilities:

The role entails supporting both pilot and full company expansions of production and inventory management tools across Culinary teams, encompassing setup and ongoing maintenance. This includes defining reporting needs and requirements applicable to the In-Stock Program and designing and building production reporting/visualization solutions for scalable delivery of In-Stock program data.

• Ensuring new reporting solutions are socialized and team members are properly trained on usage, capturing routine feedback on existing reporting solutions, and prioritizing enhancement work are essential responsibilities.
• Calculating and managing effective inventory parameters to optimize in-stock rates and minimize spoilage. Collaboration with Culinary Category Managers and Operations partners is crucial to grasp the assortment and merchandising strategy.
• Developing a comprehensive understanding of Whole Foods’ retail and purchasing data landscape, including tools and best practices for mining, analyzing, and leveraging complex data sets to drive business decisions, is imperative.
• Identifying opportunities and recommending or implementing improvements to reporting, tools, processes, and workflows affecting forecasting, purchasing, merchandising, and in-stock position is key.
• Coordination with Enterprise Analytics Team partners to ensure adherence to existing WFM design and database management standards, with Technology Team partners to articulate In-Stock Team database and information access needs, as well as maintenance and updates of content on Tableau Server performing assigned business analyses, and providing support to In-Stock teammates in writing SQL queries and utilizing reporting tools are included duties will be expected.

Must Have Skills:

You must have a strong proficiency with:

• Tableau: charting techniques, dashboard actions, table calculations, level-of-detail calculations, parameter-driven and dynamic filters. Having the ability to interpret abstract requirements and deliver reporting and visualization solutions that prove effective for the end-user is a must as well as the ability to sense appropriate times to negotiate and/or tailor visualizations based on audience understanding and expectations.
• Relational databases, Alteryx, and writing SQL, as well as advanced level Excel skills
• Analytical skills with demonstrated ability to dive in, quickly understand root cause, identify scalable solutions, and implement solutions effectively. Using your business judgement to be able to strongly communicate written or verbally a practical approach to getting this done on complex and abstract projects.
• You’re going to work with senior level stakeholders and leaders, end users, cross functional partners. You have to be able to maturely build and nurture relationships to earn the trust of those you are bringing change items to. When you identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement, lay out a process and procedure enhancement that will build credibility.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Mentorship experience of less experienced Team Members.
• Demonstrated working retail business knowledge including aspects of pricing, promotion, space, merchandising, retail operations, and financial operations.
• Natural foods background and knowledge.
