Summary/Objective

The in-house counsel is responsible for supporting corporate strategic and tactical legal matters. The in-house counsel will litigate matters on behalf of the company, from complaint drafting to collection efforts. The in-house counsel will also appear in court for hearings to argue the company’s position.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Draft complaints, draft and respond to discovery, draft and oppose motions and demurrers, and assist in trial preparation
  • Serve as key legal advisor on all major business transactions, including acquisitions, property purchases, and corporate governance
  • Judge the merits of major court cases filed against or on behalf of the company, work with appropriate executives to define a strategic defense and negotiate settlements of disputes where warranted
  • Participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs, and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and legal implications of all matters

  • Strong attention to detail and collaboration skill

Required Education and Experience

  • Juris Doctorate degree
  • Admitted to the Nevada Bar Association
  • Experience and/or knowledge in California and/or Texas strongly preferred
  • Experience in the banking or payment card industry preferred
  • Experience working on matters of corporate governance with a board of directors

Travel

Some travel may be required with this position.


WorkEnvironment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The office is located in Summerlin, Nevada.
