Job Description
BCS Placement is seeking an Import Operations Manager for our leading freight forwarding client located in the LAX area! The Import Operations Manager will oversee the Air and Ocean Import Operations processes and ensure CHB compliance. This position will be responsible for ensuring operational success and streamlining processes.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain departmental workflow to ensure efficient operations.
- Manage and analyze reports from branch manager or corporate office, covering accounting, PODs, and KPIs.
- File FMCs for Air and/or Ocean teams, validate existing rates, and assist sales with rates and transportation options.
- Conduct meetings with truck vendors, NVOCC representatives, and shipping lines to address issues and foster relationships.
- Instruct overseas agents on shipping procedures, meet with customers as needed, and ensure shipments are completed in line with business process management guidelines.
- Assign duties and responsibilities to the team and conduct performance evaluations annually.
- Assist with hiring, promotions, and termination decisions and discussion.
- Manage and review time cards and attendance of the team via the company's software system
- 5+ years of experience with Import Operations (Air and Ocean) within a freight forwarding company
- 2+ years of Supervisory experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to train, coach, motivate, and develop/mentor direct reports
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's Degree preferred
- Must currently reside in California and be willing and able to commute 3 days in office to the Carson/Torrance/Long Beach area
