What You'll Get To Do:
Responsible for undertaking, executing and managing team and operational tasks, in multiple locations, relating to importing and exporting products in compliance with Customs import and or export regulations, Other Government Agency OGA regulations and, routing guidelines and PEXNA Trade Compliance Policies. Provide support as required in the areas of duty drawback, duty deferral programs, post entry management and or filing and, logistics to minimize shipment execution delays and ensures billing and or duty accuracy against contracts and tariffs. Responsible to manage customs brokers and KPIs and import and or export team in accordance with SOPs. Responsible to contribute to design, testing of trade compliance system solutions. Responsible for ongoing training of team members and self to support the growth and development of team and department.
Import Export Customs Operations Activity Including but not limited to:
- Directly supervises classification and team, maintains product dictionary, ensuring that all items have accurate product descriptions, accurate tariff classifications, country of origins, ECCNs, PGA data and preferential treatment based on regulatory requirements with minimal assistance from Management.
- Ensures execution of SOPs by import and or export team
- Has a strong level of experience in Classification and executes ongoing review and approval of classifications and ECCN assignments executed by import and or export team members. Manage and Report on Activity
- Develop, execute and communicate KPIs, metrics, results related to department compliance, accuracy, productivity, and efficiencies.
- Manage, monitor and report on post entry, drawback, CN duty exemption activity as well as other as required.
- Manages Import and exports, monitors and reports and may transactionaly support where needed on departmental activity related to but not limited to:
- All activities related to self filed entries, data moved to FTZ module for import to FTZ and broker instructions on PNA managed customs entries from Ipre-alert through delivery
- Management of customs entries and entry data moved into FTZ modules performed by PNA and or customs house brokerage firms, including but not limited to receipt ISF and or pre alert, providing classification, documentation, and additional information as required for timely and accurate classification and entry
- Ensure timely and accurate support to report on PNA managed broker activities, billable fees, performance, accuracy, KPIs and reporting.
- Coordination of applicable Duty and or Tax payments to government agencies, including reporting as needed
- Interactions with freight forwarders and or carriers and or agents where needed to collect documents, pay freight charges and other fees to ensure customs release and final delivery
- Timely and accurate ISF or other filings as required to ensure compliant transportation
- Filing and maintenance of records classification, entry, shipment, etc. as required by import and export regulations and PNA policies
- Liaising with Customs agencies on shipment arrivals and departures where information requests, manipulation or other where needed
- Ensure accurate and timely post entry filing by interfacing with compliance team and brokers to post entry corrections, protests, voluntary tenders, research and reporting to compliance team on CF28, CF29 or any Customs notifications etc. and execute tracking and or reporting as directed
- Manage compliance activities on exports including but not limited to assignment of schedule B, ECCN, screening, document creation, export control and recordkeeping, export control reporting as required
- Communicate, coordinate and escalate with PNA Trade Compliance and PNA legal when needed
Logistics Activities
- Perform, manage, monitor and report on logistics and or delivery activity, including but not limited to:
- Coordinate delivery of imported goods
- Review onforwarding requirements, coordinate customs release and delivery of goods to ensure OTD
- Obtain and onforward documents where needed
- Review and consider import and or export requirements based on inquiries from Business Units and and or escalate to compliance team where needed
- Respond to requests for information from internal parties on status of shipments and interface with 3rd party and internal parties to resolve issues and escalate to logistics, management and or compliance teams as needed
Process Improvement
- Identify, develop and maintain end to end customs transaction process flows and process documents as it relates to product movements, customs entry, duty refunds, post entry corrections and other customs and or logistics activities in alignment with the compliance team policies and or procedures.
- Contribute to evaluation, requirements development, testing, project management and delivery of compliance system improvements in alignment with the compliance team.
- Continued effort to suggest and deliver process improvements to create efficiency, improve compliance, and reduce spend where possible.
- Act as escalation point for team members during problem solving and issue resolution, root cause and or corrective action, escalating to management, compliance and legal when needed.
- Contribute to content of policies and procedures established by the compliance team.
Supervision and Development
- Develop and monitor operational team members within the region and others as assigned. Manage recordkeeping with relation to training, goals and performance as well as provide support completion of same. Ensure continued growth in experience and knowledge of self and team members.
What You'll Bring:
Education and or Experience
- Candidates for this position should possess an undergraduate degree in supply chain logistics and or distribution, finance, accounting, international business or a similar field of study or possess a minimum of 6 years practical experience in handling customs and international trade related transactions and product classification, qualification of goods for free trade agreements, schedule B and ECCN assignment and OR equivalent experience.
- A current customs brokers license is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Power Point, and Power BI along with a well developed ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Federal Background Check and Fingerprinting Required
- Candidates for this position should possess a strong working knowledge and direct experience in import and export activities and Customhouse brokerage. Candidate must have a high level of understanding of the harmonized tariff system, free trade agreements and relevant tariff knowledge to ensure accuracy classification and entry of goods. Candidates for this position should also possess a practical knowledge of CBP compliance best practices and regulations.
- Candidate must work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative, work independently and make decisions as required with minimum supervision and have an understanding of the implications of work and make recommendations for solutions. Candidate must have ability to develop and deliver activity and performance reports as needed.
- Candidates must have excellent attention to detail and the mental capability to troubleshoot and solve problems of high complexity or difficulty, as well as problem solve in a proactive, methodical manner. Must be able to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines and comprehend complex issues.
- Candidates for this position should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be self motivated and be capable of working as part of a team or alone. This person should have capability to provide coaching of team members as applicable.
Problem Solving
- Decisions are made within prescribed company policy guidelines and constraints. However, independent judgment is often needed in identifying and resolving problems. Errors can cause delays in delivery of goods or result in CBP penalties. Excessive errors may ultimately affect Panasonics import and or export process and result in a higher risk designation by CBP and thereby increase the companys exposure to penalties, exams, or audits. This will involve meeting necessary deadlines on a regular basis to comply with Customs regulations.

- Contacts occur with others inside of Panasonic departmental staff, contract employees, compliance team, legal, etc. Customs Brokers, CBP officers, third party service providers, and government officials. Ability to communicate complex requirements is required.
