The Radiology Assistant is responsible for supporting Radiologists and clinical staff in the day-to-day operations related to the acquisition, storage, routing, and retrieval of clinical images and results. This role requires proficiency in software applications, downtime procedures, imaging routing, storage, and retrieval, as well as effective communication with providers, clinical staff, and other stakeholders. The Imaging Assistant will work closely with PACS, EPIC, PowerShare, and assist in various ancillary Imaging departments.
- Acquisition and Storage:
- Assist in the documentation process from EPIC to X-ray (Radiant).
- Efficiently pull patients from exam rooms to X-ray facilities.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of clinical images.
- Image Routing and Retrieval:
- Monitor PACS, EPIC, and PowerShare work lists regularly.
- Assist Radiologists and clinical staff in routing and retrieving images as needed.
- Pull up X-rays promptly for providers in exam rooms.
- Communication:
- Facilitate effective communication to providers, clinical staff, and other customers regarding image acquisition and results.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless information flow.
- Ancillary Imaging Support:
- Provide assistance in other ancillary Imaging departments, including patient arrival, image storage, retrieval, and viewing.
- Documentation:
- Document relevant information accurately into EPIC, including patient completion status.
- Reporting and Supervision:
- Report to the Imaging Supervisor on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with the supervisor to address any issues and improve workflow efficiency.
Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. Hiring compensation ranges from $15.50-$22.50 per hour.
What You Need:
Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Additional education or certification in a related field is a plus
Experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare or imaging setting preferred
Required Registration/License/Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required at time of hire.
- Additional certifications related to radiology or healthcare are advantageous (i.e. CMA, CNA, Radiology Student)

- Proficiency in PACS, EPIC, and Radiant software applications
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Empathy and professionalism in patient interactions
- Familiarity with imaging protocols and procedures

- Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality
Physical Demands
- Ability to move and lift patients
- Prolonged periods of standing or sitting
- Manual dexterity for operating imaging equipment and computer systems
Working Conditions
- Healthcare setting, including X-ray and exam rooms
- Potential exposure to radiation; adherence to safety protocols required
- Collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Occasional evening or weekend shifts based on operational needs
