Job description

This position is limited term for 12 months. It may be extended an additional 12 months or become permanent.
Data Analysis, Database Design and Development, and Fulfill Data Requests: Uses appropriate tools such as MS-SQL, Access, Excel, and SAS, SPSS and GIS applications to perform complex analytical studies and fulfills data requests using student-level and aggregate data. Designs queries and analyzes data for program evaluation and inquiries from management. Prepares comprehensive analyses and makes necessary recommendations to management. Responds to other agencies including the Department of Finance, Department of General Services, the Legislature, and the Governor's Office. Works with University of California, San Diego (UCSD) staff to fulfill project-specific data requests related to the Institute of Education Science (IES) grant and in partnership with the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) and the University of California, Berkeley (UCB.) Develops and maintains a complex statewide database system using the California Department of Education (CDE) standard database software, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Office components.
Acts as project liaison for IES grant: Collaborates with UCSD, PPIC, and UCB staff and supervisor to produce, interpret, and use data to answer research questions relevant to the CDE and State Board of Education (SBE.) Regularly attends planning meetings with the IES grant team for ongoing project work. The incumbent follows CDE standards for database maintenance and documenting all components and processes. Transfers data to UCSD and other data requesters in a manner consistent with the CDE's secure data transfer protocols and best practices. Assists other staff with critical projects and performs other job related duties as required.
Other Duties: Participates in staff meetings, keeps supervisor informed of the status of projects and problems, and completes other job-related duties as required.

Working Conditions
TELEWORK OPTION
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
