- Monitor the technical agenda of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to anticipate potential updates in accounting or auditing standards applicable to IDB Invest and its Donor Funds under Administration and provide quarterly updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Lead the impact assessment of new and proposed accounting and auditing standards on IDB Invest and its Donor Funds under Administration’s financial statements, financial operations and governance.
- Review financial statement disclosures for compliance with accounting standards and/or market practice in collaboration with the financial reporting team.
Maintain Accounting Policy documentation, including Accounting Policy manual and related guidelines, and advise on other operational documentation that may impact or be impacted by IDB Invest’s accounting policies. - Assess the accounting implications of existing or prospective non-routine transactions, activities, or business events, and advise stakeholders on actions to be taken regarding the accounting and financial reporting for such activities.
- Provide mentorship to other team members and training to staff throughout IDB Invest on accounting policies, procedures, and standards.
- Present accounting and financial reporting matters to IDB Invest’s staff and senior management.
Qualifications - External
What you'll need
- Education: MBA or master’s degree in accounting, Professional Accounting Certification: ACCA/CPA/CA or equivalent required.
- Experience:
- At least 8-12 years of relevant professional experience evaluating, researching, and applying a broad range of accounting, auditing, and financial reporting requirements under U.S. GAAP, particularly accounting for financial instruments (ASC 310, 320, 323, 326, 810, 815, 820, 825, 860).
- Familiarity with the operations of and internal controls applicable to financial institutions and experience engaging with auditors.
- Big 4 accounting firm and/or multinational environment /development finance institution experience preferred.
- Languages:
- Oral and written proficiency in English is required.
- Proficiency in Spanish highly desirable.
- French and Portuguese a plus.
