Description

State of Idaho Opportunity

Closing Date: Open until further notice.

Salary: $35.20 hourly – Full state employee benefits package which includes 11 paid holidays, sick leave, compensatory time for work in excess of a 40 hour week, low cost downtown parking, and PERSI retirement, plus options for medical/dental insurance, wellness program, 401k, deferred compensation program, and pre-tax flexible spending accounts for qualifying childcare and medical expenses. The office is a qualifying employer for purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

Location: Boise, Idaho. As Idaho’s capital, Boise is a growing city of approximately 240,000 and serves as headquarters for several major national and international corporations. Boise offers a rich variety of both cultural and recreational opportunities. Idaho’s world-famous fly-fishing, biking, skiing, kayaking and hiking are all within close proximity.

Primary Duties: The ICAC Analyst will be assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (“ICAC”) Unit in the Criminal Law Division and will report to the Case Manager. This is a civilian position.

Under the direction of the Case Manager, the Analyst works closely with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and triaging tips related to the sexual exploitation of children. This includes establishing whether the tip contains child sexual abuse material and the geographic location of the suspect. If a tip warrants additional investigation, the Analyst prepares administrative subpoenas, preservation requests, and related documents to gather evidence from electronic service providers and others.

The Analyst assists the Case Manager in managing the physical evidence in the Criminal Law Division. This includes maintaining chain of custody records, safe secure storage of all evidence, and utilizing best practices for handling evidence. The Analyst may be called upon to accompany the ICAC Unit on search warrants to record and handle evidence recovered.

All members of the ICAC Unit help with building partnerships and community outreach.

This work requires the Analyst to frequently view graphic videos, photographs, and chat logs of child sexual exploitation for investigative purposes, such as to establish crimes committed and to locate evidence to be used in the identification/rescue of live victims and the prosecution of offenders. The Office of the Attorney General requires all its employees routinely exposed to such content to participate in a mental health wellness program, including mandatory sessions with a mental health professional.

Requirements: The Analyst must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated skill using Microsoft 365 applications, such as Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • The ability to establish and maintain favorable working relationships with others.
  • The ability to make inferences and deductions from a vast array of intelligence sources pertaining to criminal activities and organizations.
  • The ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying, and interpreting policies, procedures, and administrative rules.

The Analyst must have a valid Idaho driver’s license and the ability to drive. Overnight travel is expected.

Applications: E-mail resumes to keri.ascherfeld@ag.idaho.gov. NOTE: You do not have to complete the standard application "apply now" process for this position. If you choose to do so, please also submit your resume to keri.ascherfeld@ag.idaho.gov to be considered for this position.

If you have questions, please contact Keri Ascherfeld: 208-334-4545 or keri.ascherfeld@ag.idaho.gov.

The Idaho Office of the Attorney General is an equal opportunity employer. This position is exempt from state classified service, and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. This is an at-will position.
