SUMMARY

Responsible for the calibration, installation, qualification, and corrective and preventative maintenance on designated electrical systems and instrumentation at the site. Requires the ability to troubleshoot, repair, follow procedures and manuals, and to document performance of work in accordance with standard plant procedures and regulatory requirements. Must have basic electrical skills and understand the requirements of the National Electric Code. Able to understand instructions and manage assignments consisting of instrumentation and electrical components

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All the Level I, I&E Technician responsibilities, in addition to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs calibrations on a variety of equipment utilizing established test methods and/or equipment manuals
  • Can independently test and troubleshoot some equipment for electrical problems. Able to determine interface functionality and capabilities of various Control Systems
  • May contact vendors/manufacturers to assist in troubleshooting equipment problems
  • Documents work performed on Work Orders/Activity Reports and on Calibration Sheets
  • Performs Instrument and Electrical equipment installations, replacements, and qualifications
  • Must be able to carry a pager and respond to plant site emergency callouts
  • May be required to perform shift work
  • Attend required training identified specifically for the job title
  • Activities may include demolition of electrical systems, such as removal of conduit and wiring, panelboards, transformers, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). And 3 years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CCST (Certified Control Systems Technician) Level I certification preferred.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Must be able to understand the basic physical properties of temperature, pressure, and flow
  • The ability to read and understand technical manuals for operation, troubleshooting, and configuration and calibration of equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of calibrating pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs
  • Ability to read and be familiar with simple motor control schematics
  • Ability to read and understand electrical one-line diagram
  • Good communication, computer, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge and ability to follow the National Electrical Code
  • Ability to distinguish colors
SALARY

Actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
