We seek a motivated scientist/engineer to join our Environment & Remediation Service Line in the Bay Area (Walnut Creek, San Jose) or Sacramento, open to a hybrid work arrangement. What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?
The individual in this position will assist with hydrogeologic and environmental/engineering tasks for site investigation, remediation, and water resource projects related to SGMA implementation. Position responsibilities will support the characterization of sites for acquisition or divestiture, contaminated sites, remediation system operation and monitoring, data management/tracking, and reporting. Tasks would include a mix of field and office work. Fieldwork would consist of conducting field investigations, drilling oversight, soil sampling, production and monitoring well installation, aquifer testing, groundwater sampling, indoor air sampling, implementing pilot tests, remedial system construction oversight, and other related activities. Office work would include environmental permitting, developing work plans, analyzing data, GIS, graphing software, supporting groundwater modeling projects, hydrogeologic conceptual models, website searches, preparing technical reports, and preparing regulatory-required documents. The role would involve selecting, coordinating, and managing subcontractors, estimating costs, and managing the scope, schedule, and budget for various project tasks. Report writing and interaction with project staff, clients, and regulatory agencies will also be essential to the candidate's success.
Candidate should be a self-starter with solid writing skills and possess a desire for on-site fieldwork to support a wide range of science and engineering projects. Candidates must also have excellent verbal communication skills, leadership and mentorship ability, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently and within teams.
What will you need to succeed?
- 1-4 years experience in the environmental consulting industry.
- BS in geology, hydrogeology, civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.
- Excellent writing and communication skills - report writing skills are essential.
- Knowledge of and experience implementing state and federal regulatory programs.
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and ArcGIS, and familiarity with database software and CAD is a plus.
$70,000 - $85,000 a year
Pay:
This position's anticipated pay range is provided above; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
Annual Incentive Bonus Opportunity:
Eligible positions may receive an annual cash bonus based on the role's organizational level, and is represented as a percentage range of eligible earnings.
