ABOUT THE ROLE

Operates, inspects, and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment for commercial HVAC systems in assigned facilities to achieve most efficient results. Assures that equipment is being maintained safely. Minimizes down time through proactive performance testing and scheduled maintenance. Ideal candidates will have prior experience as a Refrigeration Technician, HVAC/R Service Technician or Refrigeration Maintenance Technician.

  • Must live within designated radius of the job site to reliably work schedule/shift.

  • Must be comfortable with extensive everyday travel in the Portland area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aligns with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.

  • Maintains, operates, and repairs HVAC/R systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds as it pertains to assigned building(s).

  • Inspects building HVAC/R and plumbing systems to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.

  • Completes maintenance and repair records as the need arises.

  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.

  • Reviews historical maintenance records to develop proactive inspection, testing and preventive maintenance schedule.

  • Operates company vehicle in a safe manner and follows prescribed routines to service locations in a timely manner.

  • Performs general maintenance and building systems operational duties as assigned or directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate work and assign tasks.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

To perform this job effectively, an individual should be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

  • Commercial HVAC, Refrigeration and Facilities systems maintenance and repair.

  • Perform assigned repairs, emergency, corrective, and preventive maintenance.

  • Provide Plumbing, Electrical, and Lighting maintenance

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Proven experience as a HVAC/R technician; minimum of five years.

  • Mobile maintenance experience highly preferred.

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks.

CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES

Certification in two or more of the following: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair as well as CFC Certification.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Uses personal computer and/or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders and ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
