Job Summary:
The HVAC Technician establishes a preventive maintenance schedule for HVAC and related equipment. Maintains, repairs, and installs, as needed, all of the refrigeration, heating and air conditioning equipment from the Central Plant to the point of delivery. Also maintains and repairs all of the secondary controls, VAV boxes, and other secondary air delivery equipment on campus. Tests and adjusts air balance to required specifications. Provides on-call maintenance coverage for the hospital and responds to hospital emergencies. Implements current industry standards. Upgrades equipment as needed. Maintains products, parts and manuals for HVAC related equipment. Is also responsible for general maintenance duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- HVAC Vocational/Technical School, apprenticeship program, or manufacturer training
- Service experience preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' field experience in HVAC/Refrigeration repair and/or installation
Licenses/Certifications:
- HVAC journeyman's license
- Driver's license
- EPA Universal Certification for refrigerant
Skills & Abilities:
- Must have good troubleshooting skills in all types of system controls
- Must have a broad knowledge of the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration
