Summary
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the care and maintenance of all property and production assets. This position ensures the continued operation of machinery and equipment in an electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic and hydraulic capacity by completing planned and unplanned maintenance requirements on production, packaging, processing equipment and utility systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow written and oral instructions given by managers.
- Performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Continued education related to HVAC and building automation systems.
- Works independently on routine recurring assignments or assists another worker in performing more complex tasks.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with fellow employees.
- Learns and performs assigned tasks quickly and correctly through on-the-job training and learns safety regulations and practices safety precautions.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, machine manuals, and schematic drawings to assist in HVAC and BAS repairs.
- Comprehends written materials.
- Uses Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety procedures, and appropriate equipment in completing assignments.
Minimum Requirements
- 2-3 years field related experience preferred
- HVAC certification highly preferred
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
- Minimum one year experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably food and beverage industry
- Minimum one year experience with one or more technical experiences preferred: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC and/or HVAC
- Minimum one year experience with a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment preferred
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Must be able to handle basic hand tools
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift; occasionally required to climb or balance
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment with moderate to high noise volume
- May experience some exposure to fumes airborne particles, chemicals or allergens
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The ability to respond quickly to sounds. The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations. The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day. The ability to sit or stand for up to 12 hours at a time. The ability to work in bright/hot/humid conditions. The ability to work in low light situations. Lifting, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, push/pull, repetitive use of hands, grasping use of hands, visual activity. Exposure to limited hazardous chemicals.
