Job Title:Lead Installer (Technician) – Bend Branch

Department: RNC – Residential New Construction

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Hours: 7a-3:30p, Monday through Friday, some overtime including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Pay Scale: $30-40/hr., DOE

Primary Job Function: Supervises and coordinates the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Oversees the installation of new HVAC systems and ensures work is completed according to company specifications and established safety guidelines. Train helpers and support installation team, Required.

Reports to: Field Supervisor

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 + years' installation experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Pass background check & Drug Screen
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC equipment
  • EPA certificate
  • Proficient at residential and light commercial functional design and installations
  • Equipment start-up and basic troubleshooting techniques
  • Good understanding of line and low voltage wiring, relays, transformers, and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to read and follow blue prints and diagrams
  • Able to run, braze, and test line sets
  • Able to run and test gas piping
  • Correctly size, install, insulate, and seal ductwork
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow city and county installation codes
  • Advanced Safety knowledge of tools and surroundings and ability to comply with all safety rules
  • Experience training helpers & supporting install teams
  • Excellent customer relation skills and open mind to think outside the box
  • Willingness to invest time in training and classes
  • Well organized and ability to work independently and as a team
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have or be able to obtain and maintain NATE certification
  • Provide own hand tools

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Properly use safety equipment daily, to include but not limited to, gloves, back brace, lifting harness, safety glasses, ear protection, foot wear and continual observation of surroundings and team members
  • Clean truck as needed, including exterior washing and interior cleanings. Vehicle should be kept free of trash, debris, unused food and drink. Vehicle interior should be swept free from excess dirt. Vehicle interior compartments should hold all tools and equipment, keeping floor area free from falling and/or rolling items
  • Properly prepare the job site using drop cloths, moving furniture or obstructions and prepare surface areas using floor protectors
  • Properly prepare the job site allocating materials to proper locations
  • Properly remove and install all flexible ductwork per code
  • Properly support ductwork per code
  • Properly remove equipment per code
  • Properly run 2’’ PVC flues per code
  • Properly install dryer vent and exhaust vents to terminations
  • Check out materials on inventory listing from warehouse
  • Train w/IT on workflow process on service software through mobile device
  • Overall understanding of installations
  • Complete installation of standard ductwork: round ducting, flex, and fittings.
  • Complete installation of exhaust venting of ducting and terminations
  • Attend NATE gas furnace and pass exam
  • Properly set and connect/reconnect air handlers, air conditioners and furnaces per code
  • Properly run all PVC drain and exhaust lines per code
  • Properly install dryer vent, exhaust vent and double wall vent per code
  • Properly install line sets and low voltage wiring
  • Overall understanding of most new and replacement installations
  • Complete installation of standard ductwork: rectangular and round, flex, and fittings.
  • Obtain positive customer google reviews
  • Complete necessary paperwork to support timecards and other information provided to coworkers and supervisors as needed
  • Operate company vehicle following all Safety standards and applicable laws
  • Pick up parts, supplies and equipment from shop in company vehicle as needed or required
  • Immediately report any problems with company tools or vehicles to the office
  • Work well with customers, co-workers and other subcontractors
  • Clean job site. Job site should be picked up and left in a condition better or equivalent to that as when we arrived. This includes moving all trash and debris, sweeping or vacuuming site, removing all tools, parts and equipment.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude always.
  • Properly connect ductwork to equipment with screws per code
  • Properly seal ductwork per code
  • Properly run ¾ PVC drain lines per code
  • Properly install dryer vent
  • Properly use hammer drill for drilling holes per code
  • Complete installation of standard ductwork fittings: rectangular and round, flex, and fittings.
  • Ability to set and connect/reconnect air handlers and furnaces
  • Properly demonstrate proper refrigerant techniques and knowledge of refrigeration cycle
  • Safely work off 10” and above ladders, and extension ladders
  • Ability to read residential house plans.
  • Ability to create and present gas schematics for inspection
  • Ability to operate thread cutting machine and associated hand tools of the pipe fitting industry.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and operate power drills safely
  • Ability to work in crawl spaces and attics.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift up to 51 pounds unassisted, be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items up to 300 pounds (with additional manpower or appropriate devices), carry and climb ladders, work from heights, work in small crawl spaces, balance, stoop, kneel. Use of tools and equipment such as hand tools and ladders including extension ladders.

Work Environment:

The employee is expected to work in all weather conditions, which consists of extreme variations due to conditions, including but not limited to: heat, cold, wet, wind, sunlight, absence of light, and other conditions deemed by worksite. The employee may drive for extended periods of time, including all weather and light conditions.
