Position Summary
The Salvation Army Northern Division Human Resources (HR) Training and Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing and delivering the "Safe From Harm" (SFH) program. SFH is an internal child and vulnerable adult safety program designed to reduce the risk of abuse and injury to vulnerable populations. The Specialist also coordinates HR training programs and classes, conducts audits, and ensures compliance.
Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
  • Oversee all aspects of the SFH program for the Northern Division including prevention, incident response, training, scheduling, policies/procedures, and Compliance. (45%)
  • Coordinate HR training programs and classes (e.g., SFH, OSHA, bloodborne pathogen, reasonable suspicion, new manager, workplace safety). Assist with logistics, record-keeping, scheduling, development, and delivery. (20%)
  • Manage the DOT compliance program including coordinating employee Training and requirements. (10%)
  • Conduct internal HR audits and coordinate information gathering for audit requests for other programs/departments (e.g., SFH, DOT, social services, finance). (10%)
  • Process internal Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) (5%)
  • Liaison with internal SFH leaders to ensure Northern Division meets or exceeds all SFH policies and procedures. (5%)
  • Assist with data management in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) including data entry, audits, and recruiting management. (5%)

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, education, social services, or related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of one to three years of related experience.
  • Pass background checks. Possess valid driver's license and meet MVR driver's qualifications.

  • Flexible interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of employee labor laws and federal and state guidelines.
  • Competency with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment required.
  • High level of honor in dealing with confidential information.
  • Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence.

Working Conditions
  • Prolonged periods of sitting with occasional physical work and must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Professional environment; eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English and work in person or on the phone for reasonable periods.

Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Travel Requirements
Occasional local and out-of-town travel for conferences, trainings, and audits.
