Overview:
CubeSmart is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join the Human Resource team at its Malvern, PA headquarters. The Human Resources Specialist provides day-to-day support for the Human Resources team and may carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, policy administration, and compliance. The position requires the ability to act independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and anticipate the needs of the organization. The Human Resources Specialist collaborates often with the HR Business Partners, broader HR department, Operations, and Legal.
Responsibilities:
- Processes all teammate change requests that come through our internal workflow system
- Responds to unemployment claims through a third-party vendor, including providing detailed information and setting up representation for hearings
- Manages aspects of the onboarding process for new teammates, including background screen investigations and processing of I-9 forms
- Manages the store disposition process, including drafting communication plans, talking points for managers, and written communications for teammates
- Manages required labor law poster vendor to ensure compliance with federal and state laws
- Maintains teammate personnel files including periodic audits.
- Recognizes compliance issues and proactively suggests solutions or best practices to address
- Assists HR Business Partners in responding to teammate relations calls
- Informs and advises teammates of CubeSmart HR policies
- Collaborates with HR Business Partners to ensure streamlined support and communication with business leaders and teammates
- Assists the department in carrying out various human resource programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource management or related field
- Two to three years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as experience working with HRIS systems
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, including ability to collaborate, resolve conflicts, and work in a team-based environment
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills ensuring the message is clear and concise
- Attention to detail achieving thoroughness and accuracy in work product
- Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize activities around established goals
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to seek out underlying assumptions through probing, questioning, and listening
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal/state employment laws and a solid understanding of general HR practices, laws, and regulations
- Ability to research and analyze various types of data as well as identify trends
- Ability to work independently while working effectively as part of a team
