The purpose of this position is to provide support and guidance necessary to meet the hiring needs of the City. Assists in the planning, development, coordination and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs in the areas of recruitment and selection. This position performs duties under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources or assigned Human Resources staff member through discussions and consultations.
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of college coursework in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field of study.
- Requires a minimum of (1) one year of experience working with high-volume recruitment and selection.
- Requires some knowledge of principles and practices in the Human Resources field; ability to design, analyze, and implement policies, procedures, and programs.
- Requires proficiency in the use of application software such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, electronic applicant tracking system, and other computer applications as required.
- Previous experience working in local government and experience using various social media platforms strongly preferred. Proficiency with using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Adobe Creative software, Canva, or other design software preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to the position prior to an offer of employment or promotion.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record according to the City of Hampton criteria.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills; must possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to handle large volumes of work and complete multiple assignments under time constraints.
- The incumbent will be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules
