classified (non-teaching) employee positions of the Los Angeles Unified

Job Duties/Responsibilities TYPICAL DUTIES FOR THESE POSITIONS:
Human Resources Specialists are part of a team that promotes talent
management strategies within the District. Incumbents in these positions
work to support talent management goals for teachers, District
administrators, and our business services workforce.
HR Specialists perform professional-level technical and analytical work in
areas including classification and compensation, talent
acquisition/recruitment, employment assessment and selection, staff
development and training, performance management, and employee
relations.
Human Resources Specialists will be involved in exciting projects that
may include:
- Managing full lifecycle recruitment strategies to attract highly skilled
creative sourcing strategies to create a pipeline of high caliber talent for
LAUSD; and cultivating branding strategies to attract a highly skilled
workforce
- Consulting with business partners and identifying assessment needs to
designing and planning the administration of employment selection tools
and tests; and analyzing assessment tools to ensure their validity
- Maintaining a standardized and equitable job classification system by
classifying them; determining pay in relation to both internal alignment
and salaries for comparable jobs within other organizations; and
providing ongoing updates of LAUSD job classification specifications
- Conducting training needs assessments; planning, coordinating, and
determine the impact and effectiveness of training programs
- Providing analytical support in the planning, development,
processes, programs and initiatives; collecting and analyzing data
relating to these programs and reporting on the findings; and developing
and implementing a communication plan introducing and updating
audiences about the program
- Conducting investigations into disciplinary matters; overseeing the
others on conducting progressive discipline

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) college or university,
preferably with a major in Human Resources, personnel, public or
business administration, or one of the behavioral sciences.

EXPERIENCE:
Six months of experience as a Human Resources Specialist I or one
year of technical Human Resources experience in professional human
resource functions. A master's degree in Human Resources, personnel, or
public administration, or one of the behavioral sciences may be
substituted for six months of the required technical experience. It is
anticipated that successful candidates will possess a degree in human
resources or a directly related field (a master's degree is highly
desirable) and will have previous professional Human Resources
experience in one or more of the following areas: talent acquisition
(recruitment), employment assessment, performance management,
classification and compensation, employee relations, and/or staff
development and training. Additionally, they will possess a
sophisticated understanding of technology.
Employment Selection Process The employment assessment process for these positions tentatively
consists of a computerized multiple-choice test, a writing project, and a
structured interview. After candidates take the first online computerized
multiple-choice test, if successful, their application will be screened for
the minimum qualifications for education and experience. Qualified
candidates will move on to the next phases of our selection process.
Note: For this recruitment ALL candidates will be invited to the virtual
multiple-choice test, regardless of whether or not they meet the minimum

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive employment
assessment process. Candidates who pass all parts of the assessment
process are placed on a hiring (eligibility) list based on their assessment
score. Hiring departments may make job offers to candidates on the top
three ranks of the hiring list. Eligibility typically lasts for 12 months. The
