About the Position:
The Human Resource Specialist is responsible for comprehensive support related to the routine administration of Human Resources which includes recruitment/selection activities, benefits administration, and all other related functions.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the recruitment and selection process.
- Review employment applications and resumes to match applicants with job requirements.
- Perform searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, job fairs, recruiting firms and employee referrals.
- Screens applicants by performing telephone and in person interviews.
- Inform job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, working conditions, or promotion opportunities.
- Select qualified applicants and make hiring recommendations when appropriate.
- Conduct reference and background checks on applicants.
- Hire employees and process hiring-related paperwork.
- Schedule or conduct new employee orientations.
- Administer employee benefits.
- Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using Human Resources management system software.
- Interpret and explain Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
- Coordinate processing of workers’ compensation claims, and OSHA reporting.
- Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Perform research and assist the Director of HR in a variety of special projects such as wellness and training initiatives; serve as back-up HRIS system administrator.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications or Requirements:
- High School Diploma/ GED required, with an associate degree or equivalent experience.
- 2-5 years successful work experience in Human Resources is required.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
