Culver School District is seeking a dynamic, flexible and committed individual who is looking for an opportunity to deliver high quality customer service, grow professionally and be an enthusiastic team member. The individual must be able to interact with staff, parents, colleagues, students, school board and community members in a positive, respectful, and responsible manner. Culver Human Resources serves 3 schools on a single campus, shared with the District Office, with approximately 120 employees and 700 students.
The City of Culver, located just 40 minutes from Bend, 25 minutes from Redmond and 10 minutes from Madras takes pride in its small-town atmosphere and the generous hospitality of our community. Enjoy the conveniences of shopping and fine dining just a short drive away with recreational opportunities such as Lake Billy Chinook, Smith Rock State Park and mountain skiing in your backyard. With a population of approximately 1300, Culver is a rural community of farms and ranches. While all of Central Oregon, including Culver, is experiencing a growth boom, Culver still maintains a high level of community and a home town atmosphere with tremendous pride and support for its schools.
The HR Specialist performs an extensive amount of data entry, filing, recording and reporting of information for the Human Resources functions of the school district. The employee assigned to this position will concentrate their work in Human Resources, benefits and program logistics, but may also perform a range of fiscal, payroll, general clerical, secretarial, or office support duties. The employee also completes and submits various data reports to the Oregon Department of Education. The position requires the employee to work effectively with a team or special population; organize and oversee small groups of staff and or patrons to complete a project; and additional secretarial skills by demonstrating competence in various softwares, at a minimum: word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs. This employee also works with State and Federal Policy and Law. This person will be resposible for posting vacant positions, hiring and onboaring all applicants, enrolling applicants in benefits, badges, program and email access, etc. They will also be responsible for TSPC licensing and ODE reporting. FMLA/OFLA and Paid Leave Oregon benefits are a possible job duty. The employee works under the supervision of the HR/Payroll Director and assists the HR and Payroll Departments with related business, procedures, meetings and functions.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate in a positive manner.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required
  • Self-motivated, project oriented, high level of accountability and focus with minimal direction.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and participate in efficient planning and direction meetings and trainings, asking good questions and giving good feedback.
  • Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
  • Ability to successfully work with staff and patrons.

  • Understanding and experience in modern office practices, procedures and office equipment.
  • Proficiency in the usage of database software, internet software and e-mail.
  • Proficient in Google Docs, Sheets, Calendars and other Google Drive features.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Publisher and Excel preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Teams highly desireable.
  • Accounting, money managment skills highly desireable but not required.
  • Desireable but not required: Knowledge of PowerSchool-student data system; SchoolERPPro (Infinite Visions); Powerschool Records, Perform and Applicant Tracking; ODE, TSPC.
  • Read, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Accurately transfer, record and convey information, materials, and money as required by the position.
  • Have experience performing, or the ability to learn and perform, the following:
    • Perform general office duties including answering phones, directing calls and taking messages as appropriate, greeting the public, typing, copying, filing and sorting.
    • Compile and submit reports to the Oregon Department of Education.
    • Hiring new staff: from position posting, though interviewing, onboarding and orientation.
    • Health Benefits enrollments
    • FMLA/OFLA and Paid Leave Oregon applications and management
    • Perform and process a wide range of Human Resources tasks and projects as needed.
    • Maintain accurate records in printed and electronic format including: fiscal records, employee records, volunteer records.
    • Appropriately maintain and secure confidential records and inquiries. Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with staff, parents, community, staff, school board members and students.
    • Accept direction for tasks and assignments from Supervisor.
    • Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
    • Attend work regularly, as scheduled.
    • Perform work beyond the standard work week when work load requires.
    • Actively support and build a strong positive school culture and learning environment.
