As a Human Resources Manager at Giant Eagle's Distribution Centre in Freedom PA, you will manage and direct the day-to-day Human Resources functions for all assigned Team Members (in alignment with the company's business strategies) to efficiently and accurately meet operations requirements, while following all federal, state and local HR regulations.
PLEASE NOTE: This role is primarily on site at the warehouse facility. Remote or hybrid is not a possibility for this position.
Job Description
- Experience Required: 8-10 years of HR experience within distribution, warehousing, manufacturing or related industries
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a team leadership role
- Experience Required: HRIS systems
- Education Desired: Bachelors Degree
- Certification Desired: SPHR
- Travel Required: minimal area travel.
Job Responsibilities
- Promptly investigate, research, document and propose resolutions to EEO, other outside agencies, arbitrations and Team Members' issues in a manner consistent with federal, state and local guidelines and company policies.
- Collaborate in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned locations' long-term and short-term business strategies designed to improve sales, reduce costs and make the locations a better place to work.
- Act as a liaison between assigned locations and Corporate Human Resources to ensure corporate policies/procedures and initiatives are fully understood and implemented consistently.
- Manage & pay Health & Pension billing
- Manage attendance and discipline policies
- Partner with Recruiting team on talent pipeline
- Manage Hiring and Onboarding for all positions
- Manage, coach and develop a small team of Human Resources staff on site.
- Provide consulting service to the management team on Human Resources issues; interpret regulatory requirements, and maintain fair employment practices.
- Drive organization effectiveness by using performance management, appraisals and leadership assessments to aid in the development of action plans with operations, collaborating with training specialists and tracking performance management data.
- Act as the primary contact for assigned locations' Team Member assistance representatives.
- Explain benefits to all Team Members; work with health care providers, counselors and physicians as needed and ensure appropriate follow-up and compliance for all mandatory referrals.
- Partner with risk services and manage workers' compensation issues, modified duty positions and return-to-work programs to ensure a safe and productive workforce.
- Assist the retail support centers in maintaining a safe work environment by maintaining all safety training and safety disciplinary records and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend appropriate training, counseling and progressive disciplinary action for safety related incidents, including updating of the facility safety database.
- Manage, administer and monitor DOT and non-DOT drug testing policies, including last chance agreements; pre-employment, post-accident and return to work drug tests and results; and personnel files.
- Manage unemployment claims to ensure accurate processing. Attend Ohio unemployment hearings as Company representative.
- Create, maintain, and analyze statistical data and reports concerning personnel-related data such as turnover and other employee metrics.
