Human Resources Manager

We are looking for an experienced HR professional to run our US HR function, working at least 4 days per week onsite at our Carlsbad Innovation facility to support staff based locally and our wider remote US team.

Having a wide experience of HR generalist skills – from Talent Acquisition & onboarding, culture & engagement, HR operations and improvement, you will be the sole HR person in charge of this function and provide day to day support and guidance on employment legislative matters to managers and employees as appropriate.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain all US employees’ personnel records and files
• Provide a first point of contact support and guidance for employees and managers on HR issues
• Manage US payroll and ensure all benefits, stock options etc are processed in accordance with our company rules and filed accordingly
• Work to develop and implement Policies and Procedures that will support the smooth running of our business. Reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintain compliance with federal, multi-state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.  
• Support the wellbeing of our employees ensuring staff are supported to deliver their best work.
• Support the development of global team culture for Volition – helping to create a shared employee experience, wherever in the world they work.
• Oversee and manage training requests and Tuition Reimbursement
• Work alongside our Talent Team to identify and hire the best individuals for Volition.
• Advise and guide (coach) managers on employee relations matters (performance, discipline, policies, time off etc)
• Identify and implement improvements that will drive efficiency of the HR function, will simplify and streamline

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related filed – Required
• 7+ years experience in Human Resources
• SHRM-SCP and/or SPHR and PHR-CA certifications - Desired-
• Experience working in a hands-on smaller business, especially one that is high growth (scale up)- Essential.
• Strong communicator (written/ verbal) and used to HR business partnering with senior managers
• Managing projects – from design to delivery
• Managing multi-state payroll & benefits
• Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HR systems.
