The Human Resources & Graduate Studies Coordinator works with the Sociology Department Chair, staff and faculty to ensure administrative efficiency in their area of responsibility. This role is responsible for Human Resources (including faculty affairs), Graduate Studies program coordination, and other duties including streamlining administrative procedures. As the Graduate Coordinator this individual will work independently to administer and manage the Department's graduate programs under the supervision of the Director of Graduate Studies. As the Human Resources and Faculty Affairs Coordinator they will support all HR related activities, including recruitment, onboarding, maintenance of HR systems related to changes, leave reporting, payroll processing, and records management.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience in administrative operations and business development
- Ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions.
- Experience working with students in a higher education setting .
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and a service orientation with a strong interest in working with students.
- Self-motivation and detail-orientation
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, take initiative, and work independently.
- Ability to disseminate information in a clear, concise manner, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to write detailed reports.
- Ability to develop procedural structures and efficient operations using team-focused software systems, such as Google Workplace, Smartsheet, and DocuSign, as well as advanced skills with word processing, spreadsheet, electronic file management, and database management programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and experience in administrative operations and business development.
- Knowledge of university, college, and departmental academic policies and procedures relevant to graduate study, Human Resources, fiscal operations, and faculty affairs.
- Knowledge of federal rules and regulations such as FERPA, HIPAA, ADA, Veterans Administration.
- Experience managing administrative operations for private, non-profit, or educational organizations.
- Experience working with Smartsheet.
- Experience working with DocuSign.
- Experience working with online learning management programs.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint.
