Busch Vacuum Solutions is a leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, compressors, and blowers for use in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, food processing, metallurgy, biomedical, and material handling.

 

Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity open for a Tool Room Supervisor at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia! 

 

The Tool Room Supervisoroversees the management of equipment, tools, goods, and consumables within the Tool Room. Responsibilities include overseeing check-in/check-out procedures, cleaning, inspecting, and repairing equipment, maintaining inventory, documenting purchases and repairs, sourcing additional tools as needed, and managing the apprentice program by providing daily guidance, prioritizing work, offering instruction, reviewing apprentice work, and providing necessary course correction.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads a group of 4+ employees daily to support the Value Stream in hitting KPIs
  • Reviews and updates Shop Floor Management (SFM) boards daily, leads meetings with team members, and reviews the daily plan, and addresses concerns relative to company goals
  • Is considered a subject matter expert in their field and encourages the apprentice to constantly learn about the field or industry
  • Encourages apprentice to develop a long-term career vision in relation to their day-to day activities
  • Participates actively in the “soft skill” and leadership development of the apprentice
  • Leads problem solving efforts at the team level
  • Reviews and helps facilitate BUSCH principles (CIP, HPT, TPM, SFM, 5S) with each team member 
  • Works with other groups leaders to find solutions for the daily problems that arise
  • Escalates problems / concerns to the proper level or department
  • Maintains on time completion of shop orders and delivery dates
  • Stimulates maximum efficiency and productivity of team members
  • Leads continuous improvement projects at team member level
  • Maintains quality goals set by management
  • Maintains regular communication with interrelated departments.

 

 

Required Experience

  • 5+ years experience in tool and die setting: Required
  • Experience in a Machine Shop environment: Required
  • Experience in general assembly or mechanical trade work: Required
  • 3+ years experience leading a team: Preferred
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Associate's Degree (two-year college or technical school) Field of Study: (Mechanical Technology, Engineering Technology, Automotive/ Aircraft Mechanics, General Mechanics), technical school, or work equivalent: Required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel): Required
  • Valid Drivers, license must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch Insurance standards.

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25%) domestically and internationally

 

Physical Requirements

  • Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 15lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
  • Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
  • All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
