GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The HR Generalist serves as administrator for several critical Human Resources functions and workforce management, including recruiting, employee/labor relations, health and safety, compensation, benefits, training, diversity, employee engagement, leave and attendance tracking, payroll, and employee records. Facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures labor law and regulatory compliance. Provides internal support and partnership to business lines to deliver required Human Resources support. May evaluate, select, and oversee vendors that provide supplemental HR processes and services. Coordinates with other HR support staff to process and maintain employment, attendance, and other records.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

In order of importance – Include frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.)

  • Performs Human Resources duties at a professional level and may carry out responsibilities in a variety of HR areas.
  • Facilitates the talent acquisition & onboarding processes for new employees including assisting with new hire orientation and pre-hire screening
  • Serves as the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns about process, policy, procedure, and benefits
  • Assists with new hire and annual performance management initiatives
  • Provides ongoing HRIS maintenance and support for employees and managers
  • Maintains employee personnel files and records
  • Assists with workers compensation claims in cooperation with our carriers
  • Assist with candidate outreach events such as career fairs and speaking opportunities
  • Evaluates & escalates employee concerns requiring additional intervention where applicable
  • Manages the intake, evaluation, and response of unemployment claims
  • Assists with department led communications to managers and employees
  • Responds to verification of employment requests
  • Assists with training of managers and employees on a variety of topics
  • Refers complex interactions to the EVP of HR
  • Other duties and projects as may be assigned from time to time

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • High school education required.
  • A bachelor s degree in Human Resources or related field, highly preferred
  • Professional certification in Human Resources is highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HR Coordinator or Administrator with a broad knowledge base in Human Resources that spans benefits, HR best practices/processes, compliance, employee relations, talent acquisition, and payroll.
  • Past experience working with MS Office and HRIS systems (preferably ADP)
  • Effective at handling multiple complex projects.

  • Must demonstrate a high degree of empathy and the utmost level of integrity & confidentiality
  • Excellent customer orientation with a consultative approach to meeting customer needs in an HR capacity
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be an effective communicator, orally and in writing, with the confidence to engage with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time
  • Willingness to participate in projects and initiatives that will challenge thinking and expand ones knowledge base
  • High degree of accountability and a track record of completing assignment accurately, completely, and timely
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must be innovative with a mindset of continuous improvement broadly and individually
