Position: Human Resources Business Partner (Bilingual English/Spanish)

Role Overview:
As our Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will play a pivotal role in driving our company's success by providing comprehensive HR support and strategic guidance. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal and Puerto Rico labor laws, assisting mainland HR leadership with HR administration, payroll, benefits administration, supporting the business’ near shore contractor operations, and fostering an engaging work environment for our entire workforce across the hemisphere.

The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, is a strong professional writer, possesses in-depth knowledge of HRIS, is professionally curious about automation, is knowledgeable as to both Federal and Puerto Rico legal requirements, and demonstrates a strong understanding of employee engagement strategies.

This position reports directly to the business’ Chief Operation Officer and works with the entire management team. The position involves frequent travel in the United States and LatAm.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic partner to senior management, providing HR guidance on employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and Puerto Rico labor laws, ensuring all HR practices and policies align with Federal and local legal requirements.
  • Provide local, onsite assistance in the areas of HR administration, including payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS management.
  • Champion employee engagement initiatives and programs to align work experience with mission and to support employee’s ownership of the company’s and their own success.
  • Lead and execute effective communication strategies with employees and contractors, demonstrating high emotional intelligence and empathy.

Other Duties

Human Resources Business Partner is expected to work extended hours when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal) is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for this position.
  • Proficiency in Federal and Puerto Rico labor laws with a minimum 3-5 years of experience in HR roles, preferably within a similar industry or setting.
  • Strong expertise in HRIS management and a comprehensive understanding of HR processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll, benefits administration, and employee engagement strategies.
  • This position will require travel to various locations both in the United States and in Mexico.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence and communication skills to lead productive conversations and foster a present and accountable workplace environment.
  • Prior experience in early and intermediate education (K-8, High School) or social work is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with HR applications of AI, machine learning, and automation is a plus, but not required.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Individuals will need to sit and use a computer and phone throughout the workday and may need to stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching about shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, recruiting needs for job fairs, computer printouts on occasion. Proper lifting techniques required.

Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
