Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities
The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks to support effective and efficient operations of the district’s human resource department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies and refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Ensures that all HR documents are collected and filed electronically in Paylocity HRIS.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department including tasks related to scheduling orientation for new hires, district-wide tours, and new hire reporting for internal communication documents.
- Responsible for providing support to the HR department in areas of recruiting: posting job announcements, scheduling interviews, communicating with hiring managers, and updating job applicants regarding the status of their application.
- Assists with the coordination of job fairs.
- Assists with planning and execution of benefits open enrollment, performance review process, and district-wide staff training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn applicant tracking system, NEOGOV, and human resource information system, Paylocity, and similar computer applications.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma and one to two years of Human Resources experience required. Associate’s degree preferred. Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Work Environment
Most of the work is performed indoors in a busy office-type environment where noise and interruptions prevail.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
TRAVEL: Light travel across the district will be required as needed.
