To qualify for the GS-06
You must have a minimum of 52 weeks or one-year specialized experience in the lower grade (GS-05 or equivalent). Specialized experience is defined as: Having received training regarding processing personnel actions, onboarding, and customer service; providing administrative support in an office setting; reviewing and maintaining files; and utilizing automated systems to perform administrative tasks as it relates to Human Resources.
To qualify for GS-07
You must have a minimum of 52 weeks or one-year specialized experience in the lower grade (GS-06 or equivalent). Specialized experience includes but not limited to reviewing new hire or employee documents for completeness and accuracy; researching applicable laws, rules, regulations, or policies to provide accurate recruitment and placement guidance to selectees and/or hiring managers; and utilizing automated systems to perform Human Resources tasks.
As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
