Job Description
The Human Resources Manager is strategic and hands-on and provides full-cycle HR support by planning, leading and directing the day-to-day HR activities for 9Rooftops including associate relations, performance management, and employment law compliance. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the HR Manager plays a critical role in developing, executing, and supporting Human Resources initiatives, development of policies, procedures and systems, driving HR functional excellence and process improvement while providing excellent internal “customer support” for our multi-state team.
Location:
- The position can be based out of Chicago, Illinois, Hilton Head, South Carolina, or Columbus, Ohio areas.
- This is a hybrid role, 2 days onsite is required.
Salary:
$90,000 - $110,000/ annually
Responsibilities of the Human Resource Manager:
- Provides expert employee relations counsel to all team members (managers and associates) including performance management, disciplinary/investigation processes, policy and procedure interpretation and application, conflict in the workplace, harassment, discrimination, compliance, and code of conduct for a multi-state employer.
- Leads, drives and champions performance management programs and process - continuously monitors programs and makes necessary recommendations for changes with the goal improvement feedback cycles, employee engagement, growth and development. Programs include:
- Employee quarterly check-ins and semi-annual reviews
- New hire 30/60/90-day feedback (collects feedback and ensures timely completion of manager and employee surveys).
- Annual talent/succession and employee retention planning cycle, including objective talent identification tools to identify internal skills and areas of improvement.
- Uses data to identify and understand workplace trends and proactively and preventively makes recommendations to address workplace challenges and align programs and initiatives with overall business strategy.
- Manages, tracks and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations.
- Coaches employees in problem resolution and directs them to the proper channels to resolve issues while helping to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
- Assists in developing programs and initiatives that build support and build a positive culture, employee growth that align with the business strategy and goals
- Monitors and remains engaged with associates and supervisors/managers to keep a pulse on employee relations and engagement
- Works in partnership with recruiting team to support and drive the full recruitment cycle including but not limited to sourcing, pre-screening, scheduling interviews with hiring managers, offer negotiations, and onboarding.
- Coordinates and champions onboarding and offboarding process - provides support to the payroll and benefits team by conducting benefits training and other related trainings and employee communications
- Notifies leadership, payroll and applicable internal team of new hires, resignations, promotions, salary increases and terminations.
- Addresses confidential and sensitive personnel issues that require follow-up and consultation with senior leadership.
- Conducts exit interviews and makes actionable recommendations based on data.
- Facilitates Human Resources-based training, such as Harassment Training, Performance Review Training, and other supervisory and management training.
- Develops or assists in the development of employee communication
- Prepares and files reports of accidents and inquiries at company locations
- Acts with a high degree of integrity, ensure all reports are documented and actioned in a timely and thorough manner
- Ensures compliance for local, state and federal regulations and laws
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
- Occasional travel may be required
Qualifications of the Human Resource Manager:
- Minimum of 7+ years of related experience as a Human Resource Manager in a progressive professional services environment. Marketing communications/advertising agency experience is ideal.
- Experience working at a creative or advertising agency, professional services, or consulting required
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Public Administration or a related field. Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
- Experience working in multi-state employer jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all Human Resources principles and practices, including employment law, EEO compliance, benefits, recruitment/retention, growth planning, legal analyses, conflict resolution, management, program building and staff training.
- Previous experience in developing and managing HR programs
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced in preparing reports and other business communications and presentations
- Skilled in developing and presenting to internal/external groups.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and HRIS programs including applicant tracking and performance management systems.
