Job Summary/Description
Part-Time Data Analyst (remote or hybrid), responsible for interpreting data, analyzing results, and providing insights to support grant-related projects. Will work closely with the HSI-STEM Grant Project Director to understand the data needs of the grant and contribute to improving data quality and analysis processes.
Position is temporary and will terminate at the conclusion of the grant after all final reports are submitted (Grant concludes September 30, 2026 but final reports will not be submitted until December 2026 or early January 2027). Seeking candidate that can start as soon as possible.
Typical Duties/Job Duties
1. Perform Data Collection and Analysis:
- Gather and interpret data from various ASU sources to identify trends, patterns, and correlations related to student enrollment, persistence and graduation rates.
- Perform data cleaning, validation, and manipulation to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Use statistical methods to analyze data sets and present findings through visualizations, reports, and presentations.
2. Provide Insights and Recommendations:
- Generate actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis to assist with reports and deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand grant requirements and provide analytical support.
3. Produce Reporting and Visualization:
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to effectively communicate findings.
- Utilize data visualization tools to present data in a user-friendly format.
4. Recommend Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance data collection processes and improve data quality from various projects funded by the grant.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of data-related best practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and statistical analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Previous work as a Data Analyst
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience as a Data Analyst in a higher education setting
