The EHS Representative will be responsible for implementing, and managing the Environmental, Health & Safety Program of the project.

- Works directly with the Lead EHS Representative, Project Manager and support the management team to implement an effective site-specific environmental, health and safety program.
- Assists the project with training and monitoring of the safety performance of subcontractor, vendor and owner personnel working on company project. Assists in planning and coordinating work to minimize risks, and aggressively manage losses involving injuries or property damages.
- Conducts daily inspections and evaluates the project site, equipment and processes for compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations, as well as company and owner policies and procedures.
- Leads accident investigations and completes incident reporting for Project Management review.
- Accompanies injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation. Ensures all safety protocols are followed.
- Advises the project on Industrial Hygiene protocols; performs Environmental Monitoring.
- Manages Company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, ensuring proper testing for Pre-Employment, Vehicle Authorization, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Random, and Follow-Up.
- Provides training and education to Company and subcontractor personnel regarding safety requirements, including coordination of new hire safety orientation programs.
- Completes Daily Safety Reports and submits a weekly safety update to the Regional Safety Manager.
- Ten (10) years of documented relevant construction experience;
- Five (5) tears of professional construction EHS management experience;
- Excellent communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and ability to prioritize, organize and manage time
- Knowledge of regulations and standards as well as hazard recognition and injury management skills
- Required to stand, sit, walk, and/or climb stairs or ladders
- Position requires the following training certifications:
- OSHA 30 (within last 5 years)
- FA/CPR / AED certification (current)
- 40-Hr. Hazwoper / 8-Hr. Refresher training
- RCRA Hazardous Waste Management
- DOT HazMat / Packaging / Manifesting
- Permit-Required Confined Space
- Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO)
- Walsh will support the required training as long a the minimum qualifications are met.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent
- Three (3) years’ experience on tunnel or shaft projects
- Previous work with NYC DEP
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926, specifically 1926.800 (Cofferdams and Underground Construction)
- Ability to develop JHA’s, and prepare / present safety training modules
- Experience with Industrial Hygiene monitoring programs – worker exposure monitoring; CSE monitoring, general work area, etc.
- Experience managing Worker’s Compensation / medical management cases
- Safety Professional certification – CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification
