Job Summary: Implement and sustain a positive health, safety, and environmental culture through the application of the management systems framework in moderately complex site(s). This includes establishing the short term and long-term strategic plan for the site to foster continual health, safety and environmental Improvement, leading programs, policies and assessments and monitoring performance to ensure compliance with Engendren's internal requirements, applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and industry standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

· Builds strong relationships across functions to ensure the organization understands and is accountable for their roles and responsibilities and are committed to driving a positive health, safety and environmental culture.

· Ensures employees are consulted and given the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures.

· Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify strategic risk improvement opportunities and gaps in health, safety, and environmental compliance obligations. Manages planning actions to set targets and objectives for the site and drives actions to completion. Inspects the organization's facilities for safety, health, and environmental risks.

· Leads an effective support model throughout the site through training, skills development, and internal communications. Develops and manages support content ensuring it is up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations. Interfaces with external regulatory bodies as required with the support of the legal department.

· Leads daily health, safety and environmental operations within the site(s) providing subject matter expertise on complex issues, including but not limited to health, safety and environmental compliance, capital and resource management, risk reduction, incident investigation, management of change, contractor safety, emergency preparedness and response, pollution prevention and environmental sustainability.

· Drives improvement to health, safety and environmental performance metrics using a risk-based and data-driven approach. Adheres to Engendren's internal reporting requirements through approved systems. Evaluates site health, safety and environmental data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to build a tactical improvement plan. Leads site(s) Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems review annually in conformance with Engendren's internal requirements.

· Leads work cross-functionally as required to resolve work-related incidents, non-compliances, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions driving continual improvement within the site(s). Coaches and develops cross-functional teams based on stakeholder feedback, observations, and succession plan needs. Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.

· Leads organization's safety committee and steering committee meetings.

· Conducts new hire, monthly and annual training on all EHS policies. Recommends and implements changes to design, development, or delivery as necessary.

· Partners with outside consultants in ensuring compliance with governmental agencies.

· Develops health and safety procedures, programs, policies, and training for all areas of the company. Such as Occupational Health, Ergonomics, Tool Safety, Material Handling, and others.

· Develops and manages Environment programs such as fluids management, waste management (including hazardous waste) etc.

· Maintains an effective and healthy working relationship on behalf of the company with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state and local regulatory agencies.

· Records, calculates and tracks KPI progress for HSE.

· Partners with HR leader to ensure compliance with training initiatives for all employees. Ensures that production and office employees have received proper training based on the role and training matrix requirements. Will work cross-functionally with QC Manager to ensure safety is incorporated into Work Instructions.

· Management of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulatory Compliance - Identifies, interprets, and manages legal and other requirements by implementing controls, monitoring and reporting on operational performance to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental related regulations and standards.

· Measurement and Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environment Performance - Collects and analyzes data by creating key performance indicators to evaluate performance trends, deliver improvement goals and objectives, inform strategy and protect employees and the environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 15 (seldom).
  • Maximum moving requirement (pounds): 25 (seldom).
  • Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent sitting; infrequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting upper body, or climbing.
  • Working at heights off the ground up to: Not applicable.
  • Vision requirements: Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • Work location(s): Office; metal fabrication/assembly shop.
  • Limited exposure to Fumes, airborne particles, wet/humid (non-weather) conditions, toxic/caustic chemicals, and moving mechanical parts/equipment.
  • Personal protective equipment requirement: Safety glasses with side-shields when in shop areas. Safety toe shoes when in shop areas.

  • Experiential: Significant relevant experience required, including management of health, safety and/or environmental ISO Standards required. 5-7 years of experience, 1-2 years management experience.
  • Educational: College, university, or equivalent degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental required. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred.

· Certificates, Licenses, etc.: Driver’s License Required. As necessitated by State and Federal requirements.

  • 10 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
