Job description

The City of Kenosha is looking for two front desk receptionists to join our team at the Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy. These positions will be responsible for greeting visitors, answering phones, and providing general administrative support. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Both positions are part-time positions expected to work 20 hours per week.
City of Kenosha has developed the Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy (KELA) in partnership with Carthage College, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Herzing University, Gateway Technical College, Jockey International, Best Buy, the Kenosha YMCA, the Students Engagement thru Groups and Activities (S.E.G.A.) program, gener8tor and the Mahone Fund.
KELA aims to provide students and young adults with the skills and resources to pursue college and/or career paths.
The KELA building is located within a few blocks from the proposed Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood (KIN), a live, work, and play neighborhood focused on innovation, education, training, learning, and work opportunities. KIN represents the future economy of the Kenosha community, and it will change the region's economic trajectory and offer inclusive, diverse, innovation-based opportunities to position Kenosha competitively as a destination for technology and entrepreneurial development.

  • Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate building location.
  • Answer and route incoming calls in a professional manner and take messages.
  • Maintain a neat and organized reception area.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks such as filing, copying, and scanning documents.
  • Provide information to customers regarding services offered by our organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

High School diploma, GED, or HSED.
Experience providing clerical support and customer service.
Must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service at the front counter.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional communication skills and professionalism when dealing with people on the telephone and in person.
Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including email, spreadsheets, word processing, copier/scanner, and other data processing equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
Ability to properly deal with difficult and complex office situations.
Good attendance, including dependability.
Possess and exhibit initiative, thoroughness, resourcefulness, and good judgment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to handle reasonably necessary stress.Employment Type: Temporary/Seasonal
