You will be able to lead and contribute in meaningful ways at our new greenfield McCalla, AL facility, where we will produce the very popular Uncrustables sandwiches and are also looking forward to development of new and innovative products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands and supports company and site safety policies and performs work related activities in a safe manner. Recognizes unsafe work conditions, coaches peers, and suggests new safety practices as appropriate.
- Develops and implements Company HS&E programs, policies, procedures, and processes, and has a working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Actively participates in training and qualification programs. Conducts new-hire HS&E orientation training. Develops and provides HS&E training.
- Mentor and coach team Safety Functional Leaders (SFLs).
- Creates, updates, and validates documentation as needed (e.g., Safety Maps, Job Safety Analysis’, SOPs, lockout procedures).
- Becomes subject matter expert in HS&E key elements and builds capabilities in other team members.
- Assists team members in identifying hazards and assessing risks, identifying preventative and corrective measures, and implementing these solutions.
- Participates in incident investigations and root cause analysis; provides coaching to team members.
- Tracks and communicates site HS&E results.
- Participates in audits and inspections, assists in tracking corrective action plans to completion.
- Owns two to three HS&E key element systems.
- Participates on teams and projects including process improvement initiatives and capital projects.
- Uses continuous improvement tools to eliminate losses and drive issues to root cause; documents, communicates, and implements corrective and preventative actions.
- Responsible for maintaining company safety and environmental records and paperwork.
- Manages the site prescription safety glasses programs.
- Works directly and independently with contracted HS&E service providers as appropriate.
- Increases skills and knowledge by attending training sessions.
- Research, consult on, and procure PPE and safety supplies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associates or technical degree or training is a plus.
- A minimum of 1-2 years previous manufacturing experience required.
- Previous experience in a safety and/or environmental role preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as a safety rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and general instructions. Good communication skills are required both verbally and written.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to perform critical thinking skills to problem solve and resolve conflicts.

VISION
- Employee is required to have a minimum of 20/40 vision in each eye with or without corrective lenses. The applicant must pass a standard eye exam.

- This role may be a rotational offline support role. Potential to rotate into an online technician role.
