Magnolia River is looking to hire a Human Resources Specialist who will provide comprehensive support to the HR team and internal client groups in assigned functional areas of HR. In this role you will have the opportunity to join a growing department with a dynamic team culture!

This HR Specialist position is an exciting opportunity for someone who has some knowledge and experience of HR processes but wants to take their career to the next level and grow along the way. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for general day-to-day operations of the HR department and acts as a point of contact for employees and managers to accurately answer general HR-related inquiries and referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Assess and anticipate HR-related needs, recommending integrated solutions in multiple cross functional areas, such as employee relations, HRIS, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action and employment equity programs, and personnel research.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and dissemination of HR policies and procedures
  • Assist with composing and auditing reports in conformance with legislative/regulatory and organizational needs.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and research best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Verify new hires by completing I-9 forms, entering employees into the E-Verify system through UKG, reporting new employees to the DOL
  • Provide administrative support to HR Department.
  •  Respond to unemployment claims and follow-up with managers for documentation
  •  Assist with various projects and track progression of tasks
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
    • Competency with Microsoft suite of office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Working knowledge of HRIS programs.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Ability to perform in a detail-oriented environment with a high level of accuracy.
    • Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
    • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials.
    • Ability to communicate unpleasant news and difficult information in an appropriate manner.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to travel as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Human Resources or Business plus a minimum of six (6) months of directly related experience OR an equivalent in education and experience.
    • Experienced in reporting.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.

 Additional:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical Demands:

Duties are performed in an office environment. 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
