Human Resources Specialist
Position summary:
WhistlePig Whiskey Human Resources is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone with great project management skills, who is analytical and meticulous in their attention to detail, and who possesses an insatiable curiosity. This role will play a significant role in supporting, advising, and driving the day-to-day experience of our most valuable assets (that’s our people, which we want you to be one of). Our HR team calls ourselves a ‘tripod’; we’re looking for our third leg.
Responsibilities:
This HR rockstar will provide substantive support in execution and delivery of the full range of HR operational and transactional matters, by
Acting as the command central of the Human Resources team, executing tasks within the core functions of the department including but not limited to:
employee and compensation data management, digital employee and department record maintenance, payroll and benefits administration, as well as other administrative tasks pertaining to the day-to-day flow of HR activity and
Ensuring legal compliance with HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and assist with updates to policies and procedures as necessary or required
Managing the behind-the-scenes flow of an employee’s lifecycle with WhistlePig, from
candidate preboarding (background checks, systems setup, and account creation, the procurement of necessary tech/equipment),
through new hire onboarding (HRIS and benefits enrollment, newbie meetings scheduling),
to departing employee offboarding (exit documentation such as surveys/interviews, termination and benefits information, collecting or coordinating of the return of company assets)
Creating reports, analyzing data, and facilitating the preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits, compensation changes, or company/departmental information, as needed
Totally owning benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and inquiries for health & welfare benefits, to include our annual Open Enrollment portal setup and management of subsequent changes, in addition to coordinating our 401K program with our external vendor, leave administration, and acting as a megaphone for the barrelful of perks and fringe benefits we offer our employees
Supporting employee engagement initiative processes, coordinating the details and logistics of HR-led events and recognition programs enhancing company culture
Embracing flexibility by readily taking on ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned, demonstrating adaptability in a dynamic environment
Serving as an ambassador for WhistlePig and our HR culture, embodying our values in every interaction in an unmistakably genuine and authentic manner

Excellent written, verbal, and virtual communication skills - we’re a remote workforce for our business functions and the ability to connect across channels is a must

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and G-Suite with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Required education & experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
2 years HR administrator experience, or a combination of education and professional experience may be considered
Familiarity with various HRIS would be awesome, but is not required - we can train the right candidate
A valid driver’s license (see travel requirements below0
Physical requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Location:
Our business operations are remote-first; this role in particular will be hybrid, with onsite expectation 1-2 days/week, and flexibility as needed for team meetings and to support onsite activities
This person must be able to travel between sites as needed (with advance notice wherever possible – ours is a team of planners)
Candidates should be currently located in Vermont, within commutable distance to Middlebury, Shoreham, or Stowe, Vermont.
Unfortunately, relocation is not available for this position.
