Position Summary (A Day in the Life)
- Recruit new employees using traditional and new recruiting strategies
- Screen, interview, hire, and onboard all new employees
- Create and oversee employee training and apprenticeship programs
- Administer benefits for all employees including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance and 401(k) benefits
- Review/participate in annual salary surveys and provide recommendations on compensation structures
- Assess employee performance with department managers and deliver performance reviews
- Work with Plant Manager and other department managers to address any employee issues or concerns
- Review staffing levels and work with staffing firms to ensure necessary labor levels are achieved on daily basis
- Supervise and mentor 1-2 direct reports within the department
- Work with other HR managers and corporate management to develop HR policies and documentation
- Coach Supervisors and Managers on different HR topics to assist in their development
- Recommend training and development opportunities for all staff
- Track and record employee attendance and hours and process payroll on a weekly basis
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory concerns regarding employees
- Assist in leading all safety initiatives at the Plant and bring recommendations to the Corporate Safety Committee
- Act as liaison between employees and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies & practices
- Provide support on employee relations issues and activities, recommending courses of action
- Work to ensure the safety, welfare, wellness and health of all employees
Desired skills and experience:
- 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or similar environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgement in decision making
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Experience processing payroll strongly desired; experience with Paychex is a plus
- Strong Spanish language skills are essential for this position, proficiency in Spanish speaking is required
